2016 was a great year for us. I couldn’t be happier with the accomplishments of our staff and volunteers. Lots of growth, great memories, and happy clients made this a great year.
I entered into this profession many years ago. Seeing a need and wanting to help seniors and adults with disabilities maintain a level of independence living at home. I wanted to be a part of it - to help those who made our community a place to live and grow memories. In all of my years with CHSLC, I have worked with many wonderful people who share this same vision. This year was no different.
Changes amongst the Family
This year we welcomed two new members to our family - Pam and Susan. Their smiling faces and friendly personalities are a joy to our Perth clients. At the same time, our Carleton Place clients wished a happy retirement to our colleague and friend, Doris. And let us not forget baby Liam, first-born son of our staff member, Olivia. All of this has been a reminder of just how much we have grown.
Reaching New Heights
We raised the bar to reach new heights this year. The increase in referrals from the region’s hospitals provided us with further opportunities to help those wanting to remain in their home independently as long as possible. This helped spear us on as we took on the challenge of producing our own frozen meals. Improving on quality and quantity, our frozen meals met with applause and appreciation from our clients.
We are grateful for the support of our local communities - Perth, Lanark, Smiths Falls, Carleton Place and Pakenham - and of course our many volunteers. It through your support that we are able to help so many of our community neighbours. It is because of our clients that we are inspired to reach new heights to serve them better.
On this note, I would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year on behalf of the entire CHSLC family.
Mary Anne Nicholson, Executive Director
